The Renaissance Begins
In June 2024, Plains marked its arrival with the release of Core Collection Drop 1 — a tightly edited offering of essential garments that redefined the everyday. At the centre of the launch was Plains’ signature heavyweight tee, cut from 240 GSM cotton and offered in a muted palette. The drop also introduced the brand’s tailored pleated trousers, easy-fitting shorts, and melton wool “Lids” caps with shortened peaks — pieces designed to become uniform.
The collection debuted at a friends-and-family gathering at Apéritif on Bree Street, in an evening the brand referred to as its “Renaissance.” Set against the buzz of Cape Town’s summer, the event brought together early supporters and future believers, offering a first look at Plains’ slow, considered approach to contemporary menswear. It wasn’t just a launch — it was a foundation being laid.
